Rapid-Detox
Rapid Detox is a form of medical detoxification where an individual addicted to opiates is placed under general anaesthesia and inserted with high dosages of the drug naloxone.
It is believed that people who use rapid-detox suffer no withdrawal symptoms or any cravings for narcotic substances after this treatment, in essence that their dependency is completely cured.
Medical professionals however, have labelled the procedure fraudulent, and a study done in 2005 by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that the use of anaesthesia has no vital effect in the treatment of opioid dependence.
It makes sense that only treating one aspect of the addiction to opiates will NOT produce a long lasting solution.
