Blood Alcohol Level and Rehab

03/03/2011

This refers to the amount of ethanol (alcohol) in the blood and is a measure of how intoxicated (drunk) a person is.

It is also known as Blood AlcoholConcentrationand is measured in grams of ethanol per milliliters of blood, expressed as a percentage.  It is sometimes used for legal purposes – for example to define when a person is driving while drunk.

Blood alcohol level is a more accurate measure than simply counting how many drinks a person has had.  Factors such as age, body weight, and sex can influence the degree to which a person is influenced by alcohol.
