The 12 step meeting process

12 step meetings can be hosted in any rented room; some take place in town halls, churches, and even at alcohol and drug addiction treatment centres.

Meetings are usually hosted once per week at each specific venue, however it’s common to find people attending a meeting in a different location every day of their first 90 days clean. This is referred to as doing “90 meetings in 90 days”.

During the meeting, everyone introduces themselves by their first name only, but you have a choice to remain anonymous or you’re welcome to use a fake name (pseudonym) although this is rare. Participation in these meetings is also at your discretion, as you are welcome to sit in and listen for the first few sessions until you are comfortable to express yourself.
