Top places to take your pictures of Cape Town

So you want to take home the most stunning photographs of Cape Town?  Well here’s the cheat list for choosing the best locations that will make your neighbours jealous. First take a walk down Blouberg beach which offers a beautiful panorama of Table Mountain and Lions Head. This is especially beautiful at sunset or in the evening.

Some of the suburbs here that offer good distance shot of Robben Island are Bloubergstrand, Milnerton and West Beach. The entire West Coast is pristine and offers many good photo opportunities. Robben Island is our next destination.  Go to the V&A waterfront.  While you’re there go to the second floor of the shopping mall and take a shot across the yacht basin with the magnificent Table Mountain in the backdrop.

Then go book a ferry to Robben Island, where you will tour the jail where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned and be able to photograph his cell. Back on dry land get directions to the Lions Head walk and take the moderate hike around the hillock to get beautiful shots of Camps Bay from above.  Return to your car and drive past Camps Bay to Oudekraal to get some shots of the pristine aquamarine water that looks like a scene from Greece.  Continuing along that road will land you in Hout Bay where you can take some shots of the working harbor.  In the backdrop you can include  which is our next point of interest. Driving along Chapman’s peak stop and take shots of the harbor before you arrive in Noordhoek where we are en route to the Cape Point nature reserve.

Here you will get dramatic shots of waves crashing at the bottom of cliffs as well as photographs of one of the most diverse flora ecosystems in South Africa (an entire kingdom of flora – fynbos – is present here). On the way back go through Simons Town and then drive up the hill surrounding it to get shots of False Bay before travelling to Kalk Bay harbor to experience an authentic South Africa fish market. And there you have it – a series of photographs that will look like postcards and make your neighbours jealous!
